Town Centre Strip Part Owner Seeking Community/County Help to Improve Area
The new owner of 137,000 square feet of Town Centre in East Naples would like to see the community and Collier County develop a plan to improve the entire Town Centre property, including outparcels.
Speaking recently to members of the East Naples Civic Association (ENCA), Ramco-Gershenson, Inc. vice president Mark Podlin said that the real estate investment trust, which is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, plans to improve its part of the parking and property.
But until county and community planning begins showing a direction, Plodkin said, further investment for improvements is not planned by the company. He assured his audience that the company would be an enthusiastic participant in any planning and has had meetings with Com. Donna Fiala and ENCA officials to discuss possibilities.
He cited the need for owners of outparcels, which hold the Shell and Mobil stations among others, to participate in any overall improvement program. The company may be interested in buying some of the parcels if the price were right but not until planning indicates the prospective value of the real estate, he said.
The company's share of the strip stretches east from Beall's, which is in the former Kmart and is expected to open its 82,000 square-foot store in June, up to Robb & Stuckey's furniture outlet.
